Individual Psychotherapy

Individual Psychotherapy

Family dynamics can often be challenging. As families grow and change over time, they may benefit from additional assistance as they face difficult times such as separation, family trauma, divorce, the birth of a new child, a new marriage, or the loss of a loved one. Yulia offers therapeutic interventions that help support families as they navigate through these times. Well versed in therapeutic interventions for families, Yulia views the entire family as the client and strives to respect, assist, and facilitate the growth of each member as a member of the family unit.

Currently, Family Therapy is offered to  adult family members only.

Specialties and Issues Treated

Anxiety

Anxiety comes in many forms and symptoms and can feel overwhelming. Social anxiety can prevent you from reaching your professional and interpersonal goals while panic attacks can feel unmanageable and unpredictable. Anxiety can be generalized to work, life, and relationship and often racing thoughts can prevent you enjoying special moments with family and friends.

Anxiety therapy provides a safe and supportive environment to help you manage symptoms of various forms of anxiety, identify triggers, and develop coping strategies. I use evidence-based practices to help you overcome symptoms of anxiety and improve your mental well-being.

Depression

Depression can be deceiving. Often individuals may "mask" and be highly successful at work, interpersonally, and often meet their goals but struggle to feel a sense of fulfillment afterwards. Struggling to enjoy activities and hobbies that were once pleasurable experiences can contribute to an overwhelming feeling of emptiness. Once joyful occasions and family events may feel like chore or task, simply something to be completed.

Depression therapy focuses on helping you manage symptoms of depression, identify negative thought patterns, and develop coping strategies. I use evidence-based practices to help you overcome depression and begin to experience life with a sense of accomplishment and happiness again.

Stress Management

Unmanageable, consistent stress can contribute to feelings of burnout and can manifest as physical health issues. Stress management is an imperative skill that can help reduce the long term health consequences associated with elevated stress.

Stress management treatment provides tools and techniques to help you manage stress and improve how you respond to internal and external life stressors that may occur at work, with family, and with friends. Stress management therapy will teach you skills that you need in order to feel more in control of how you respond to stress and minimize the physiological impact that stress may have on your body. I focus on developing healthy coping strategies and techniques for managing stressors in your daily life so you can thrive.

Trauma

The psychological impact that traumatic experiences such as childhood abuse, domestic violence, growing up with a mentally ill parent, living with a parent or partner who has symptoms of narcissistic or borderline personality disorder, or experiencing the sudden loss of loved one can feel unmanageable. Processing complex traumatic experiences like these may take time, care, and special attention. Treating complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) and acute post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), can be a life changing experience and what once felt unmanageable may begin to feel empowering and help you redefine your trauma narrative into post traumatic growth.

Using evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT),  Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT), I treat symptoms of trauma and help you learn to the skills you need to cope with symptoms of trauma and improve your quality of life.

Cancer, Chronic, and Terminal Health Conditions

Being diagnosed with cancer or a chronic or terminal illness can change your perspective on life and influence how you experience happiness and relate to others. Learning to cope with a potentially terminal or chronic illness can mean the difference between shutting down and isolating from the world. I can guide you towards acceptance and help you redefine your lived experience.

Using evidence based practices and an existential approach, I can help you process the required steps in your life and find empowerment again. Finding a sense of peace during tumultuous times can substantially increase your quality of life and teach you the skills you may need to thrive while teaching you to advocate for your health and the wellbeing of your loved ones.

Personality Disorders

Individuals with personality disorders experience thoughts, feelings and behaviors that are maladaptive and inflexible throughout their life and it can keep them from happier and more fulfilling life and relationships. Individuals with personality disorders may experience mood swings, distrust, turbulent relationships, impulsivity, isolation, or rigid thinking. The symptomology may range from mild to severe and overlap with other disorders. There are 10  personality disorders and each of them has specific traits, and symptomology and requires a different therapeutic approach:

Antisocial personality disorder

Avoidant personality disorder

Borderline personality disorder

Narcissistic personality disorder

Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder

Dependent personality disorder

Histrionic personality disorder

Paranoid personality disorder

Schizoid personality disorder

Schizotypal personality disorder

I work with individuals who have personality disorders and with loved ones who are or were in a relationship with them.
